Last blog

Hello ! I'm back and I am in one piece. I will not be coming back to school tomorrow because I am feeling tired (it's called jet lag).

When I was in Bangkok I bought 10 games for my PSP and some Skull Candy headphones and we also saw some snakes at the Snake Farm. We saw pythons, anacondas, cobras, kraits, pit vipers and some water snakes.

I would have taken some photos if remembered that I had a camera and that I could take photos so yeah.

I didn't sleep on the flight back because I couldn't be stuffed. So instead I watched four movies: Rango, The Green Hornet, The Way Back and I can't remember the other one....

I tenei ra:today we went from chaunrakhaka to namche bazaar.when we were wallking it was quite hot.it only
Took about 1 and a half hours maybe 2. the the track was a llitle bit steep but the track was short.
On the walk I think we crossed about 4 bridges. today as me and mingma(he is one of the sherpas)were passing some men on the track who were trying to lift up a realy big rock and there hands were slipping so they couldn’t lift it up .and also there were some other people were trying to crack a rock with a sledge-hamer….
I tenei ra We left to go to Chaunrikharka. Today the thing that I was most worried about was being very tired or heat stroke. But heat stroke would be very unlikely! Obviously, it was hot but not that hot. Today’s track would be up and down. Before lunch I walked with the Mitchell family. We were the first ones to get to lunch. When we got to lunch, after twenty minutes it started to rain and Hine came about half an hour after us, so she got a little bit wet.
In the sky, with the clouds there were planes and helicopters, they were going to Lukla. My Grandpa helped make the airstrip at Lukla in 1964. Five years ago, the last time I was in Nepal I went to Lukla. There was a big fire burnt down several houses. I was a little bit frightened because it was just down the track. In Lukla this is no way to put out a fire because they don’t have any fire brigade. This time I will fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. Perhaps this time I will see the burnt houses.
After lunch I saw quite a lot of mules. Mules are a mixed breed between horses and donkeys. They are very useful for carrying loads.

Last one before the hills

I tenei ra: yesterday, in the morning we went to the ‘Monkey Temple’. The boys and I (if you read my last blog you will know who they are) spun heaps of prayer wheels and I think I saw about four monkeys. We climbed heaps of stairs and when we got to the top I was puffed out!
I bought a miniature prayer wheel, then we went down different stairs. On the way down I cracked my coconut on the stone stairs. After, we walked fifteen minutes to Buddha Park. There were three very big statues and they were gold coloured. One of them was the Medicine Buddha, another was Guru Rimpoche and the other was Pawa Chenrezig- the Buddha of Compassion. Guru Rimpoche was the man who took Buddhism into Tibet. The Medicine Buddha (I forgot his Nepali name) has a bowl of medicine that can heal all illness.
After that we went to Chez Caroline is a restaurant with a bundle of different shops around it. We played with some snap-dragon flowers. We squeezed then on the side to open the snap dragon flower.
That night we went to a hotel that had a stage-floor and what we watched was Hindu temple dancing. And the foot work was pretty cool, and so were the hands.
The next day, in the morning we stayed at our hotel. Bede and I went for a swim in the pool. The pool was cold, as usual! But it was a nice swim because the cold was not too much. Bede, Keir and I built some houses out of leaves, stones and bricks and sticks. We used those houses for our soft toys.
After that went to lunch at this place called Dwarikas. It is a hotel. There are quite a lot of courtyards. We went roaming around the place. After that Bede, Keir, Guthrie, Caitlin and Mike and i all went to Bauddha. were a relic of the Buddha was buried. I bought a really small dorje (something the monks use for blessing and ceremonies). And Bede bought a hand-held prayer wheel.
Later we went to Nima’s house for dinner. Nima is a relative of my grandma’s and granddad’s good friend. Before dinner my Mum rang up and Hine and I talked to her. She was at home in New Zealand. We had dinner and went back to our hotel. It was raining when we were driving back to the hotel….

Chatachak market in Bangkok is an awesome market. I bought a scarab and a scorpion, but those insects are encased in plastic. I did not go to the market today, it was a couple of days ago. I would have posted this sooner but we have been doing heaps of things. So I could not post this sooner. To go to the Internet we are not sure how much we need to pay, if we need to pay.
So…. Yeah. What I did yesterday. In the morning we went to a Sherpa tangi. Me and Hine did not know the person. And there was heaps of incense around the place.
I muri i tera … we went to Yangen’s house. She is one of my grandparent’s friends. There I did some homework and I helped my granddad do some unpacking and packing of some medical kitbags for the trek.
I muri i tera… we went to lunch at Mike’s Breakfast. I had the fettuchini.
I muri i tera.. we went back to the hotel. Me, Hine, Bede, Keir and Guthrie all went into the pool and played piggy in the middle. The water was quite cold.
I muri i tera.. ka hikoi ki Garden of Dreams. Before we had dinner me and the boys started catching frogs. It was quite fun. Then we had dinner and then we played ‘go home – stay home’. We walked back to the hotel. Oh yeah… I forgot to tell you that Hine and I did some buying.
After we went to Mike’s Breakfast my granddad bought a down jacket for my sister and he bought a pack. Then we walked to a shop that had things that were made out of yak wool. Hine looked for a present for Paki. Paki is our cousin. It was 350 rupees. That’s about 7 in Kiwi dollars or about 5 American dollars. The asking price was 500 rupees. You may think that the price is high but it is because the Nepalese currency is of low value compared to other countries.
For our cousin Tamihana, I bought a present. It cost a 1,000 rupees and the asking price was 1,200 rupees. I was pleased that I bought this for my cousin….
